Assuli in attendance in Sicily at Taormina Gourmet

Assuli reconfirms its participation in Taormina Gourmet, the event endorsed by Cronache di Gusto dedicated to the Sicilian agri-food sector at the Hotel Villa Diodoro. A presence intended to be able to give substance to the quality with which the winery works to improve, day after day, the excellence of its wines, reaffirming the link with the land.  

The moments in which Assuli wines can be tasted are:

  • Maxi tasting counter, an opportunity to meet and taste Arcodace 2021, Fiordispina 2021, Lorlando Riserva 2016, Dardinello 2021, Donna Angelica 2019. In the halls of the elegant Conference Room, one cannot fail to agree on the desire to express the excellence of Sicily among over 50 top wineries from all over Italy and over 150 wines to be tasted. These are the numbers of the Taormina Gourmet 2022 tasting counter, the result of a selection from Cronache di Gusto and the Essential Guide to Italian Wines by Daniele Cernilli. From north to south, Assuli’s are among the best wines of Italy.
  • Masterclass dedicated to Sicilian reds made from Perricone grapes: Furioso 2019 andFiordispina 2021. Focus on a little-known grape variety, a real relic grape, which gives rise to very interesting wines, a symbol of the great Sicilian biodiversity. Tasting led by Nino Aiello, historic writer for the L’Espresso and Gambero Rosso guides, as well as area manager for Gambero Rosso Sicily  The audience will be made up of journalists and professionals. Duration about 75/80 minutes.
  • Cooking show dedicated to quality food with the involvement of some of the most popular Sicilian chefs and pizza chefs. And paired with the gourmet dishes Donna Angelica 2019 and Lorlando 2019, with the pizza Fiordispina 2021, Arcodace 2021, Ruggiero 2018 and Lorlando 2019. There will also be Assuli Extra Virgin Olive Oil on the tables, obtained from the cold pressing of Nocellara del Belice, Cerasuola, Biancolilla cultivar olives, autochthonous Sicilian varieties. Duration about 45 minutes.
  • Gourmet dinnerDonna Angelica 2019 and Lorlando 2019, reserved for journalists and professionals who will taste the specialities prepared by young chefs from Southern Italy.

‘Learn-Taste-Explore’ are the three keywords in an edition dedicated to top-class wines, chefs and pizza chefs from all over the country. A truly unique and varied sensory journey that makes the ‘pearl of the Ionian Sea’ the capital of quality food and wine.

A grape variety we strongly believe in, which has its roots fully in the Sicilian background. Therefore alongside FURIOSO, our first Perricone in purity that ages 12 months in large oak barrels, FIORDISPINA, 100% Perricone in rosé version, and ARCODACE, another Perricone in purity aged entirely in steel containers for 4-5 months. So we are still betting on this autochthonous grape that is giving us a lot of satisfaction. We are waiting for you to try them all!’.
